I could not put this book down, and I enjoyed every minute of it!!! Her books definitely never disappoint. The entire plot of the book might be effectively summed up by a reflection of Sainty's near the end:
"He saw what a puppet he had been in the hands of two strong-willed women, an instrument to satisfy the vulgar ambitions of the one, the angry revenge of the other."
The one thing that struck me as a bit off about the otherwise quite believable novel was Sainty's complete asexuality. I expect things will get even worse in Half a Crown, the next book in the series. PCs are not likely to fully destroy the big nasty at the end
My primary reason for giving this product only 3 stars is that I dislike both the basic premise of the background plot as well as its effects. Yes.. The book is well written and provides both historical and technical information th
