If you are looking for a beginners manual, this book is probably not for you. This book is too driven by pity for the protagonist -- apparently a stand-in for the author -- but it's very involving.
Sturgis was a protegé of Henry James, who however criticized the novel rather harshly, and it also failed commercially. I think the book does have things to teach. Would not recommend.. The first time he did this with Ben and Tim was genius and enriching. Neuman are sure to light up your day.
Buy extra copies, so you can sell them when it goes outta stock!!. Those who are seeking quick entertainment will do neither it nor themselves justice. Mars and Venus here on earth: Gender differences are more explained by socialization than biology.
